  • Women in Education

    Women in Education
Since we just celebrated International Women's Day, I thought it vital to include on this timeline. It's clear how far women have come because of education, holding various positions in society and the many different jobs for women. Women in the U.S. are no longer looked at as solely stay-at-home moms. That role has changed because of the educational opportunities provided to women. As time continues, we are still pushing young girls into science and engineering programs to advance them in life.
  • Vocational Education

    Vocational Education
Vocational Education has developed since it first started in the early 1900's, some now as small colleges. Programs here allow young and older students to gain knowledge and experience in a specialized area to prepare them for the workforce. Such careers may include something in the medical field or even a welder. These programs focus extensively on one occupation for students to be ready for hire right after completing the program in a shorter amount of time than a 4 year college.
  • Brown vs. Board of Educatioln

    Brown vs. Board of Educatioln
Without this court case, our nation would be significantly different. Because classrooms are now able to have students of all color learning together with those that are not, children are able to be exposed to different cultural backgrounds. African American children are achieving more academically because of the access classroom teachers have to current resources compared to before this court decision.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
All children can learn and that includes those that were once excluded from the classroom. This law has made it possible for students with disabilities to be taught alongside their classmates in the same classroom. IDEA allows students with a disability to a free and appropriate public education that best fits their learning environment, something that was not always offered to students before. This had changed education simply by including every child when it comes to gaining an education.
  • Technology in Education

    Technology in Education
Virtual learning and technology in education is changing how children, and adults, are able to learn. Virtual learning at the high school level offers students courses that are unavailable at their school. Online learning at the college level allows for more flexibility. Courses offered during the summer is nice because you won't have to travel back to the classroom. It is very helpful for adults returning to school because the flexibility is helpful when raising a family and going to work.
