    Shannon was a ninth-grade, learning disabled student and had an IEP.
    Shannon’s parents were dissatisfied with the IEP and requested a hearing, challenging the appropriateness of the IEP.
    State and local educational authorities rejected the parent’s claim and concluded that the IEP was adequate.

    Shannon went to a private school and her parents filed a lawsuit claiming the school district breached its duty under IDEA and wanted reimbursement for tuition and other incurred costs at Trident.
