Eadweard Muybridge bet $25,000 to his buddies that a horses hooves would be off the ground in one point in time and he won, but another thing was that the speed the pictures were taken make it seem like it was a moving image so they started expirementing with this method and thats where the start of moving film happend.

One of the very first movie theaters made people pay to watch a very short film one by one, they had to line up to see it and if you where going to see it you would have to put one eye open into a hole to see the moving image and alot of people came to see this invention called the Kinetoscope.

The Lumièr Brothers made something that Thomas Edison did not want which was a device that let more that one person watch a motion picture and they were very short films, the charge was 1 frank which was not much and they got profit off of this.

The Vaudeville is a small theater that featured short dramatic skits, comedic routines, etc... They made a Vaudeville for a moving picture and many people came to see it.

In 1903 Thomas Edison made the first narrative U.S. movie called The Great Train Robbery which was 12 minutes long which was a huge success in Edisons part.

Thomas Edison made the movie franchise theirs so anyone that made a movie had to give part of the money to Edisons franchise and if you did not Thomas Edison and his goons would come to where ever you were filming at and destroy all your equipment.

The beginning of how hollywood began to become a popular site for movie productions because of the scenery, lighting, and most of all since california is very close to mexico they could hide from Thomas Edison and his goons which is how alot of productions started in Cali.

Near this time alot of actors started to become bigger and bigger, and two of the most famous people in film history at that time where Mary Pickford (Americas Sweetheart) and Charlie Chaplin (Americas Comic) and they where making around a million dollars a year!

The first movie ever to have sound was a movie produced by the warner bros. called "The Jazz Singer" which to everyone's surprise you could hear the movie and everyone loved the new technology.

In 1938, Disney created the first sound and color animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The name "animated cartoon" is generally not used when referring to full-length animated productions, since the term more or less implies a "short."

While it was not technicallly the first movie with color but shurley was one of the most famous and was one of the ones that started the beginning of films with color.
