Junior Colleges Receive State Support
The Arizona Legislature approves State Board of Directors for Junior Colleges and legislature to create Junior College Districts support by county and state funds. -
Maricopa County Junior College District is established
Citizens of Maricopa County voted in a margin of 90,000 to 40,000 to establish the MCJCD. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
With the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, forms of discrimination against racial, ethnic and racial segregation were illegal which helped to open education to meet the needs of more citizens. -
Vietnam War
With the Vietnam War, enrollment in colleges across America increased. -
Launch of New Programs
As student enrollment increased, the need for new programs did too. Junior colleges like Chandler-Gilbert Community College, added educational programs like Aviation. -
Devoted Environments Open for Specialized Training
To meet the need for specialized training facilities, Phoenix College built and opened a designated training environment for the Nursing Program.
