    The Magna Carta
    On June 15th 1215, King John signed the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was written by a group of barons who wanted to protect their rights, belongings, and property from the greedy king. Although this document imited the King's power, he signed it because he was being pressed with civil war by the barons.
    The Magna Carta contributed to the develpment of a colonial government because it marked the beginning of a new hope for Englishmen who were exhousted from the King's oppression and taxing.

    The Petition of Right
    The Petition of RIght was approved on June 7th 1628 by Charels I. The petetion stated that Colonists "should not be compelled to contribute to any tax, tallage, aid or any like charge not set by common consent in parliament".
    This petition contributed to the colonial government by continuing elimination of the King's grip over the colonists.

    The General Fundamental
    From 1632-1671 the colonists put together a plead for a representative government and individual rights. At this point in time, the colonists were in demand for a representative government and a leader. The government at the time accepted their demands and gave the colonists their rights. This contributes to both federal and state government. It contributes to both becasue, the colonists got their rights and a stronger representative government was formed.

  • The English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights
    On December 16 1689, the Enlish Bill of Rights was put into affect by the King and Queen, William and Mary of Orange. The English Bill of Rights limited the power of the King and Queen even more so. It limited the monarch by eliminating the ability to establish their own courts. Also, it helped out the citizens and state by giving them more rights and a stronger state government. The English Bill of Rights contrinuted to the State government by giving the citizens more rights.
