After learning what John McCain thought a hero to be, I began thinking about my hero over the weekend. Although McCain seemed to think a hero has to save lives, I was trying to find a human rights activist.
-
Over the long weekend, I went back and forth between different options for my hero. At the end, I limited it down to Peter Tatchell, Andy Warhol, and Eleanor Roosevelt. Soon, however, my first optionw will be ruled out.

My class watched an interview with a member of Peace Corps to introduce project.
-
I was very excited about disovering Peter Tatchell, a sexual orientation, gender, and race equality activist. However, I was not as excited to learn he did not have a book and therefore could not be my hero for this project. He can still be a personal hero!

At this point I'm torn between Andy Warhol and Coco Chanel. After looking through Warhol's books in the library, I decide he's not for me. I go for Coco, and naturally, the school library does not have a book on her. After calling all of the Half Price Books in Katy, my mom picks up Chanel's book: The Life and the Legend at the Sugarland library.
-
I now have my book and began reading. It only took a few pages for me to feel confident in my deicision of choosing Chanel. Every page of her biography is fascinating as are her ideas about life.
-
I uses this time to get aboout 100 pages into my biography.
-
On this night I recorded myself - the new technology in this project is new and exciting - explaining why why I chose Chanel and the process I went through. Here's the link to my blog post:

I made it to page 175 during this timespan. Still quite a bit of reading left but almost halfway throgh.
-
After discussing who my peers were going to itnerview during class, I began to wonder if I should target a differnt subject. I'm leaping back and forth from an old friend who is nearly obsessed with Chanel or trying to find the owner of a boutique, a fashion designer, or anyone in the fashion world.

I wrapped up posting this blog on this evening. Here is the link to my blog post.
-
I took the first step in scheduling an interview with a fashion teacher.
-
After worrying the Art Institute would not return my call, I asked Mrs.Simmons for a contact. She provided me with a student in fashion, and I then sent her a facebook message.
-
The interview is now scheduled for Friday, the 3rd with a fashion teacher.

I've really enjoyed reading this book. Chanel is someone I've always been interested in learning more about, so reading this really didn't even feel like homework. Her history is very ahrd to decipher becuase she exaggerated certain events, changed dates, and tended to be more of a storyteller than a fact provider.
