    Helen Longino is an American Philosopher of Science. Her main argument is how important values and different social interactions is important to the science community and the development of scientific knowledge. Helen is an important figure in feminine epistemology. In this timeline I will highlight some of her major attributes to the community and all that she has accomplished.
  • Science as Social Knowledge

    Helen published Science as Social Knowledge. In this book she shows how social values (lack of both genders) effect the data of scientific methodology. In her book she created a term called contextual empiricism, where she discusses how scientific knowledge is actually formed.
  • The Fate of Knowledge

    Helen published The Fate of Knowledge challenging the argument between philosophers of science and sociologists of science about how the role of social forces established scientific knowledge. Helen argues how social interaction helps develop a well rounded base of knowledge.
  • Robert K. Merton Professional Award

    Her book The Fate of Knowledge recieved the Robert K. Merton Professional Award for best book from the Section for Science, Knowledge, and Technology of the American Sociological Association.
  • President of the Philosophy of Science Association

    Helen Longino served as the President of Science Association from 2013-2014.
  • Studying Human Behavior

    In this book Helen brings up the long lived debate of "nature vs nurture" and talks about how scientists argue it and asks "what can be known about human behavior through empirical investigation?"
  • Women's Caucus Award

    Helen Longino was awarded the PSA Women Caucus Prize in Feminist Philosophy of Science for her book Studying Human Behavior.
  • First Vice President

    First Vice President of the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science (2016–2019)
  • Romanell Prize

    Helen Longino has received honors from the American Philosophical Association for her contribution to the philosophy field. A part of the reward will be presenting the Patrick Romanell lecture. Helen will be lecturing the topic of philosophical naturalism.
