    The first hearing aid was created during the 17th century. It was called an ear trumpet. It was cone shaped. They were created in different shapes and styles. Sheet iron, Silver, Wood, Snail shells or Animal shells were all used to make ear trumpets. To hide the fact that they needed the ear trumpets peole disguised them by putting then in fans or jewery.

    A new style of hearing aid was created for maximum help with hearing. It was also a cone shape but this time it had a tube connected the two ends. The smaller end of the cone was placed around the ear whislt the larger end was spoken directly into. It wasn't very subtle. It was basically a short distence phone

    In the early 18th century, an electricity company teamed up with Alexander Graham Bell (inventer of the 1st phone) to create a new style. It was basically a box that was worn around the neck that amplified sound, It had lots of wires and was very visable. The battery didnt last long, so a battery pack was worn to extend the hearing aids life.

    Hearing aids became more modern and smaller. They could now fit inside a handbag

    Hearing aids became small enough so you could carry them around in your pocket

    Hearing aids now are quite popular with 2 in 1000 school aged children, having hearing loss. There are many different designs and colours as technology improves.

One of these is that the hearing aid can be connected by bluetooth to a mobile device so the person dosn't need headphones or have to hold a phone up to there ear. Hearing aids are now lighter,smaller and much more functional.
