  • Abdur Rahman Khan Becomes King

    Abdur Rahman Khan Becomes King
    Dost Mohammad Khan, Abdur's father, dies the day before and unconventionally names his third son, Abdur, to be his successor.
    -This causes a stir, and Khan has to fight to put down rebellions by both of his brothers, but eventually conquers their armies and then begins to conquer modern Afghanistan
  • Hazara Declaration of War

    Because of the poor treatment of Hazaras, and the big change from autonomy to oppression, tribal Hazara leaders united to declare war against Rahman
    -War became very ethnically and religiously charged.
    -Hazaras were brutally put down, making their situtation afterwards even worse.
    -After this, Abdur Rahman Khan used Hazara people as a lesson to Turkmen, Taijik, and other ethnic groups by brutally oppressing them.
  • Hazarajat Absorbed by Rahman's Kingdom

    Hazarajat Absorbed by Rahman's Kingdom
    -The Hazara tribes are defeated by Amir Abdur Rahman Khan's kindgom
    -Hazarajat, land of the Hazaras (Central Afghanistan) is annexed, and oppression is immediate.
    -"Hazaras have been systematically oppressed and discriminated against since their defeat in 1893 by Abdur Rahman" (Abedin Jamal)
  • King Amanullah Khan Abolishes Slavery

    King Amanullah Khan Abolishes Slavery
    In an attempt to modernize the country, King Amanullah abolishes slavery and grants more rights than the previously had.
  • Coronation of King Nadir Shah

    Coronation of King Nadir Shah
    -Shah does not reinstate Amanullah, and beings to oppress Hazaras once again, "condeming Hazara culture" and trying to teach Pashto language and culture.
    -Shah erases all histroical/archival records of Hazara people
  • Saur Communist Rebellion

    Saur Communist Rebellion
    -Started a Communist rule based on Soviet Russia
    -Got support and later was taken over by the Soviets
    -Because of the ideals of Communism and Socialism, Hazara people were returned some of their freedom, though social and culutral opinions of them changed little
    --In an effort to make the country more easy to manage, Hazarajat was returned to the Hazara people
  • The Taliban Take Kabul

    The Taliban Take Kabul
    The Taliban take Kabul, effectively taking control of the country. However, Hazarajat is still holding off from the Taliban.
  • Fall of the Last Taliban Stronghold

    Fall of the Last Taliban Stronghold
    -In late November, the US took the final stronghold for the Taliban (Kandahar, Afghanistan).
    -US rejected amnesty, but some of the military leaders escaped

    First Identified Targeted Killing of Hazara in Quetta
    -The first of an onslsaught of terrorist targetings of the Hazara community in Quetta, Pakistan.
  • 18 Hazara Civilians Targeted and Killed

    18 Hazara Civilians Targeted and Killed
    -18 days ago, in a four day span of time, 18 people were killed going about their daily lives.
