    August Spies was invited as the German Language speaker at striking Lumber Shover's Union. Many people started to protest, the police came, things got out of hand, and two protestors were killed by police.

    Workingmen hold a peaceful meeting.Police show up to break up meeting. A bomb is thrown into the police, the police start shooting everybody. Workingmen then return fire, several people are killed.
  • Police arrest 7 of the 8 eventual defendants

    People got surprised in Chicago and everywhere else. Police arrested 7 of the 8 eventual defendants.
  • 8 are charged as being accessories in the murder of a cop

    31 people are charged with beng accessories in the murder of a police officer. Eight of them are put on trial: Albert Parsons, August Spies, Oscar Neebe, Louis Lingg, George Engel, Adolph Fischer, Michael Schwab, Samuel Fielden.

    The death sentence is the most likey option for the 7 convicted.
