Every day (except for Sunday) the family worked at their general store. George and Hana, had the job to make sure all of the shelves are stocked at all times. On Sunday in the winter they ski and skate together, but in the summer they have picnics with other family members.

George Brady (Hana’s older brother) was born in Czechoslovakia to his parents Karel Brady and Marketa Brady.

Hana was born and became part of her family in Nove Mesto. Nove Mesto being a town known for making skis.

Adolf Hitler was named the German chancellor of the Nazi party. The Nazi party was a group a Germans they promoted anti-Semitism.

The Nuremberg laws were passed to Reichstag, which is the German Parliament building. In result, the Jewish people lost all their rights in Germany.

After the Nazi's Munich Agreement, the Nazis took over border regions of Czechoslovakia.

Anti-Semitic riots took place in Germany, and Austria in which people destroyed Jewish buildings. After this, 26 000 Jewish people were taken to concentration camps, and all Jewish children were kicked out of school.

George and Hana would listen in on their parents and their neighbours when they were using the radio. When the news broadcast ended the parents would give their opinions on the situation.

Germany invaded Poland, and the Nazis took over Dazing, but Britain and France made him a deal, which Hitler refused and declared war.

The Nazis marched into Czechoslovakia and declared the Jewish people as bad influences. From then on the family had to live on by different rules, such as, only being allowed to leave their homes at certain hours, and were restricted to shopping at specific stores at specific times.

Hitler's death squads rounded up undesirables, mainly Jewish people.

Hitler's secret police known as the Gestapo, arrested George and Hana's mother, Marketa Brady. Marketa was then moved to Ravensbrück which is a women's concentration camp.

Karel Brady was then taken away by the Gestapo, along with all of the Jewish men in the Town of Nove Mesto. Which led to having to leave Hana and George all alone, so they then had to live with their uncle Ludvik and their aunt Heda

Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. As result, the U.S. and Britain declared war on Japan, but then Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S.

In Auschwitz, the Nazis began to kill Jews and undesirables in large numbers using a chemical known as Zyklon-B.

Hana and George received a deportation order to Trebic on May 14, 1942

On the way to Theresienstadt (a concentration camp) Hana celebrated her 11th birthday. During the war 140 000 people were sent to Theresienstadt, 15 000 of them were children, but only a few children survived, after going from camp to camp.

After arriving at Theresienstadt, Hana and George were split up in separate barracks.

The Warsaw Ghetto deported 100 000 Jewish people to the Treblinka death camp.

Karel Brady was executed in Auschwitz after being moved from prison to prison, to prison.

Marketa Brady went from Ravensbrück, and then to Auschwitz, before she was finally executed
