    Zachary Guiles, a student at Williamstown Middle School, repeatedly wore a t-shirt with imagery of President Bush as a chicken. The shirt also had insulting comments about former President Bush, as well as imagery of drugs, alcohol, and a razor.
  • Guilds is reprimanded by the school and his parents take the issue to court

  • The District Court of Vermont rules that the schools actions were lawful but tha these infractions should be taken off of the student’s record.

    The court of appeals ruled that this shirt is protected under the first and fourteenth amendments and that wearing it is okay.
