  • Green Bay Packers Created

    On August 11, 1919, the Green Bay Packers were sponsered by the Indian Packing Company and founded by Curly Lambeau and George Whitney to become an official team. In 1919 and 1920 the Packers played in a semi-professional team against teams from around Wisconsin. In 1921, they joined the American Professional Football Team, which later changed to the NFL.
  • First Packers Win Ever

    In the first season in the NFL, the Packers where playing the Minneapolis Marines. They beat them in a close game, 7-6 for their first win, and went on in a 3-2-1 season. A few weeks later though, they were shut out by the Stayleys in Chicago. This led to on of the biggest rivalries in the NFL between the Packers and the later to be known as Bears.

    Bart Starr Era

    Bart Starr was drafted by the Packers in 1956 in the 17th pick from Alabama. He was quarterback from, 1956-1971, under Vince Lombardi for most of the time. Throughout his playing career, he went to the Prowl Bowl four times, won 5 NFL Championships and two Super Bowls, and MVP twice, and was entered into the NFL Hall of Fame. Immediately, in 1972, after his retirement as a player, Bart Starr became an assistant coach, and on Dec. 24, 1974, he became the coach for ten years.

    Lombardi Era

    Vince Lombardi was coach from 1959-1967. Every single year of his coaching career, he was a Hall of Famer. He won NFL Championship in 1961,62,65,66, and 67. In 1961, Vince Lombardi won the Coach of the Year Award. Also, throughout his coaching career, the Packers didn't place lower than second in the NFL.
  • Super Bowl I

    In the first Super Bowl ever, the Packers were playing the Kansas City Chiefs after beating the Cowboy. The game started off with each team scoring a pair of touchdowns, with a Bart Starr touchdown pass. Later on, the Packers scored again, and went into the halftime with a 14-10 lead. In the second half, the Packers took control. They scored on the short runs and an interception return to seal the game 35-10. Bart Starr won the MVP, who completed 16-23 of passing for 250 yards.
  • Coldest NFL Game Ever

    On December 31, 1967, the Packers, defending NFC Champions, played the Cowboys in the game before the Super Bowl. The game was the coldest game ever in the NFL having a low of -13 F and a wind chill of -46 F, and was called the Ice Bowl. In the end the Packers won 21-17, in a close matchup. They then went to play the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl II, hoping to win the first two Super Bowls ever.
  • Super Bowl II

    A few weeks after playing the Cowboys in the NFC Championship, the Packers were back in the Super Bowl playing the Oakland Raiders. The Packers took two early fieldgoals to take a lead. Both teams exchanged drives to go into halftime with a 16-7 Packers lead. The Packers dominated in the second half scoring on a run, fieldgoal, and an interception. The Packers won the game 33-14. Bart Starr got knocked out of the game after a sack, but won the MVP for the second year in a row.

    Brett Favre Era

    Brett Favre was traded to the Packers from the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. He won the Offensive Player of the Year in 1995 and MVP from 1995-97. He also went to the Prowl Bowl 11 times. A fan-loved quarterback, Favre led the Packers to the Super Bowl in 1997and lost in 1998. In 2008, Brett Favre was traded to the Jets, and a year later, to the Vikings. After two seasons with the Vikings, he officialy retired on January 17, 2011.
  • Super Bowl XXXI

    Back in the Super Bowl for the first time in 29 years, the Packers played the New England Patriots in New Orleans. The Pakcers jumped off to a quck 10-0 first quarter lead, but lost it in the middle of the second quarter, losing 14-10. But, the Packers went right back to get a 27-14 lead at halftime. Following a Patriot touchdown, Super Bowl MVP Desmond Howard ran the kickoff, 99 yards to take a 34-21 lead. The Packers lead a scoreless fourth quarter to win.
  • Super Bowl XXXII

    Defending Super Bowl Champions, the Packers played the Denver Broncos. The Packers started off slow and both teams didn't score much. At half the Packers were losing 17-14. First drive of the second half, Brett Favre lead the Packers to a 85 yard score. Both teams scored to lead to a 24-24 fourth quarter. With 1:45 left, the Broncos scored a touchdown. The Packers quickly went down the field, but an incomplete pass on the Broncos 30 yard line, on fourth down, gave Denver the win, 31-24

    Mike McCarthy Era

    On January 11, 2006, Mike McCarthy met with Ted Thompson, the Packer's GM, and became the head coach for the Packers. The Packers started off slow, but got better later. In 2007, they lost in the NFC Championship, and in 2010, they won the Super Bowl, beating the Saints.
  • Super Bowl XLV

    On Febuary 6, 2011, the Packers played the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, looking for their fourth Super Bowl, after beating the Bears 14-7 in the NFC Championship. The Packers started off quick and took a 21-10 halftime lead. In the second half, the Packers slowed down, and the Steelers spedup. But after a close end, the Packers won 31-25, to win their fourth Super Bowl ever. Aaron Rodgers got the MVP, completing for 304 yards and three touchdowns.
