    This was a style of design mainly used in the 1800s, it was a style that had decorative outlines, elaborate typography, and very busy imagery. Which means that there was usually a lot going on in the pictures.

    This type of design utilized illustrated typography, and had lots of texture used in it. It was popular in the 1880s-1910s, and had lots of older textures in it.
  • World war propoganda

    World war propoganda
    during both world wars there was a lot of propaganda made on both sides, this is an example of some US propaganda made to persuade people to join the army. Propaganda had a big role in both wars, whether it was to persuade people to join the army, or to make people donate money to the army.
  • Late modern

    Late modern
    This was a design very popular in the mid 1900s, it was usually simple, using geometric shapes cleverly organized. It was a very informal type of design.
  • Psychedelic

    Psychedelic
    This design was mainly used in the 1960s, it was heavily influenced by the use of hallucinogen drugs, which were popular at the time. Normally very abstract with a lot of calligraphy.
  • Flat design

    Flat design
    This is one of the most modern types of graphic design, its very minimalistic with no depth, straight lines, and it makes good use of negative space.
  • Grunge

    Grunge
    This is also a very modern type of design, popular from the 2000s to 2015. It uses dirty backgrounds and textures. It makes good use of torn paper, dirty edges, and stains.
