After Kindergarten, this was my favorite books. I still read it to my students.
  • Magic Tree House Series

    Magic Tree House Series
My second grade teacher, read the first 10 books with us as a class. I was so in love with the idea of Jack & Annie's adventures and stories behind the tree house that I read up to the 27th book in the summer after 2nd grade until I ran out of books. She added a lot more since then :)
  • Charlotte's Web

    Charlotte's Web
When my sister was finishing up her student teaching, she used me to fine tone idea for school. She actually bribed me into reading Charlotte's Web by getting me the movie but only if I read the book. I think that impacted my book choices too.

    Middle School (4-5)

  • Period: to

    Jr. High School (6-8)

  • House on Mango Street

    House on Mango Street
This was a book I read in 7th grade (as a class) but it was great how much I related to it was to me personally. I was even shocked that we read the book (there weren't a lot of Hispanics). I had just moved out here so it was actually a comfort.
  • Thirteen Reasons Why

    Thirteen Reasons Why
I actually got this book by accident and I figured I'd read the first chapter. When I started it, I could not stop. Some parts seemed too scary for a 14 year old, too realistic and I even cried for these characters.
  • Period: to

    High School (9-12)

  • Speak

    Speak
Freshman year, I got into realistic and kind of dark novels but it shaped me as a reader and a person
  • Twilight Saga!

    Twilight Saga!
Like every other teenager I read the series and it actually peaked my interest in the supernatural in writing and even TV. Even though I was not a fan of the movies...books are always better!!
  • Daughters of the Moon

    Daughters of the Moon
My supernatural interest continues... The characters were from Los Angles (an hour from where I am from) and teenage like I was. They also mixed in Greek mythology.
  • Period: to

    College and beyond

  • Hunger Games Series

    Hunger Games Series
Was actually talked into reading this with a friend, he wanted to read the book before the more and I like to do that with book to movie -movies. I actually got so addicted I read the whole series before he finished the first on.
  • Walk Two Moons

    Walk Two Moons
This book was actually part of a reading circle for one of my classes.I really loved this type of book because it was realistic but also great writing from the past to the book's present. I loved the lessons learned along the way. I was a real journey, just like the journey we all have to take.
  • Esperanza Rising

    Esperanza Rising
This was also a book "required" to read for a class and majority of my students had already read it and I felt i needed to read it too. I then realized it was an amazing book and how much I could personally relate to Esperanza.
  • Gone with the Wind

    Gone with the Wind
I haven't really had time for reading the last few years but my current obsession is historical and time pieces.
