    The document served as the first governing document of the Plymouth Colony. This colony was started because people fled England because of the religious persecution by the King.
  • Petition of Right

    Petition of Right
    The Petition of Right is a document that states certain liberties that the king is prohibited from infringing upon. The document was created on May 8th and ratified on June 7th.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    The Bill set limits to the power of the King of England and stated the rights of Parliament. It also gave the right ot petition the king without fear.

  • American Revolution begins

    During the American Revolution, the colonies seperated from Britain and formed the United States of America. The Revolution started in 1765, and escelated in 1773 and 1774 when the Boston Tea Party resulted in the forming of the Intolerable Acts, which started the Revolutionary War.

    This congress came together to manage the colonial war efforts and also adopted the Decleration of Independence. They acted as the government of that time.

    The document that stated that the colonies were no longer a part of the British Empire and now were a part of the United States of America. Thomas Jefforson wrote the first draft of the document, which Congress then edited to make the final draft.

    The Articles of Confederation established the 13 colonies as sovereign states and served as the first U.S. Constitution. The document was created in 1777 and ratified in 1781.

    Daniel Shays led a group of rebels in an armed uprising against Massachusett's courts and eventually at the United States' Federal Aromory in an attempt to overthrow the government. Although the rebels were defeated, it forced to government to rethink how they were governing.

    The compromise, which was created at the Constitutional Conventin, was a mix of the Virginia and New Jersey Plan. It stated that states would have equal representation in the Senate, but proportional representational in the House of Representatives.
