UDV took attorney general Alberto Gonzales to court saying that the ban on hoasca was in violation of their first amendment rights (freedom of religion).

The Judge decided that there wasn't enough health risk brought by hoasca to be illiage. The court also rulled that the ban of hoasca was in violation of the first amendment rights of the UDV group.
