Much of the initial setup included collecting, rectifying, creating, and organizing GIS data.
Once some data was brought together, it was organized and we established the Township's Geodatabase, or 'the building blocks for future map making'.

Developing and Refining Data for the creation of a Comprehensive Wall Map
Much time was spent on refining the data to be used in the Township's first comprehensive Township Wall Map.
The data was brought to a high accuracy and a Large Wall Map was finalized in late 2011 and will be available to the pubic shortly. This wall map, measuring 36” x 44”, comes in two (2) variations; Lots and Concessions or Topographic.
Demos will also be on display at the Township Office shortly.

This dynamic web mapping tool displays the campsites, water access points, and permit roads in the program. It allows users to easily select campsites on the map and check availability and book the site. Other tools allow users to measure their canoe routes or hiking distances. This tool is available online or through a free app on smartphones and tablets.

The existing cemetery maps that have been handed down for many years, are old and difficult to read and maintain. The layouts and locations of cemetery burials will be GPSed and established in digital formats that can then be made accessible in mapping applications or in hardcopy, for staff and the public.
This project is currently in progress.
