by 11:30 am heath had been defeted and forced to withdrawl to Hurr Ridge.
Reynolds was killed
both sides now brought up reinforcements. -

Heath's devision joined the attack on the corps. -
3 pm
The battle spread north of town. Jubal Early's division attacked down Harrisburg Road and crushed the corps. -
4 pm
Both fedral corps were retreating through Gettysburg to Cemetary Hill. Fedral losses were 9,000 dead and 3,000 captured.
Confedrate loses were 6,500. the result was a confedrate victory.
