Birth of Galileo
Galileo was the first of seven children to be born to Guila and Vincenzio Galilei. Vincenzio came form a wealthy family that had for generations been part if the ruling class. Little is known about Guila who came from the cloth-merchant Ammannati family. -

Enters University of PIsa
Galileo entered the university to study medicines.One day while sitting in a cathedral he was observing a lamp hanging from the ceiling swaying back and forth and reaching the same point each time. He would later apply this to his theory of pendelums to clocks.

Publishes essay on hydrostatic balance
In 1586 Galileo published an essay on hydrostatic balance. Galileo took the process of weighing things in air and in water to a new level. He published his ideas and thoughts in this essay he wrote.

Awarded chair of mathematics at the University of Padua
Galileo had left Pisa and was now being paid three times the amount at the university of Padua. He was well respected in the school and awarde the chair of mathematics shortly after joining.

Jamestown, Virgina is set up
The colony of Jamestown is settled by men who came from Great Britain. They specialized in growing tobacco. It was a huge sell for them and helped them stay running for a little while.

Galileo learns about the telescope and is able to improve magnification
When Galileo first hears about the telescope he returns to Padua and is able to increase the lens power by 32. With the telescope he was able to mae many scientific discoveries about what really is in outer space.

Galileo leaves Padua to become the first philosipher and mathematician to the grand duke of Tuscany. The Duke allowed him more times to work on his projects.

I had already knew William Shakespeare had died in the year 1616. One of the best writers the world will ever see, he came up with many plays that are to this day still performed or read in schools. -
First slaves are brought to Jamestown
They were not considered slaves but more indentured servants, they would work 3-7 years for a man and then after his time was up he was set free.

Galileo gets out on trial
Galileo went against Aristotle and the church when he questioned Aristotles idea that heavier objects fall faster than lighter objects. He conducted and experiment by dropping items of different weights and they fell at the same speed.

Months before he went completely blind Galileo discovered that the moon did in fact make liberations. He was observing through his telescope, which he usually had done, he could the make the conclusion that the moon spins.

Galileo dies in 1642 of old age. He went down as one of the worlds most respected scientists in the history of the world.
