    the British controlled 6 on the French forts. In late summer the British moved to attack New France at its capital, Quebec.

    In September, British general JAmes Wolfe and 4,000 men secretly climbed the cliffs to Quebec. The next the French awoke to the British army. In a short battle, Wolfe and the French commander Montcalm died.

    The Seven Years' War ended and the Treaty of Paris was signed. The treaty ended all French control in North America and expanded Britain's colonial empire.
