    The American Revolution was a war fought between the newly founded colonies and Great Britain. The war is also commonly called the War for Independence, as this was the goal of the colonies. Independence was achieved in 1779.

    This was a letter that George Washington wrote towards the end of his second term as President, and it warned the American people from forming political parties, and being involved in foreign countries.

    These wars were over piracy and were fought between the Barbary states and the United States of America. There was a second war 10 years later when the conflict was still not resolved.

    Jefferson forbid any trade with foreign countries. Specifically the British goods that were being imported.

    War between the British Empire and the United States and resolved many of the unsolved issues left over from the American Revolution but did not change any territory.

    The Monroe Doctrine was produced to avoid letting more European countries colonizing over in North America. This was right after many Central American countries had gained independence from European countries such as Spain and Portugal.

    Manifest Destiny was the journey that many made all the way across the country to colonize Western United States of America. The phrase manifest destiny became a belief, and was used to justify many wars and other foreign affairs.

    After much debate over whether or not Hawaii should be a state or not, Hawaii was annexed and then made a US territory two years later. It later became a state.

    Resulted in the Treaty of Paris, and as a result the US gained power of the Phillipines, Guam, and Puerto Rico, as well as temporary control over Cuba.

    Roosevelt Corollary
    An addition to the Monroe Doctrine, this stated that the U.S. could intervene in Latin American countries in order to protect them from the colonization of European countries. Although looked at as an addition, this was really a revision of the Monroe Doctrine.

    The Cold war was tension that rose between the US and the Soviet Union, and was never actually a war. It resulted in a constant competition between the two countries and almost lead to nuclear warfare.

    US supports Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid to prevent them from falling into the Soviet sphere.

    American program to aid Europe where the United States gave monetary support to help rebuild European economies after the end of World War II in order to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism

    Two airplanes were flown into the World Trade Centers in New York CIty by members of Al Qaeda and another was flown into the Pentagon and another flown into the ground in Pennsylvania.

    Started after the attacks on the World Trade Centers, it was initially supposed to be a war because Iraq supposedly had WMD's but none were ever found. Then lead to trying to free the Iraqi people from their dictator Suddam Hussein.
