    Between January 1 and August 15, 1985, 142 cases of listeriosis were identified in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, California. There were 28 deaths.10 neonatal deaths and 18 nonpregnant adults; there were an additional 20 fetal deaths as well. There was an investigation of the cheese plant and it was suggested that the cheese was contaminated with unpasteurized milk. The unpasteurized milk contained the microorganism listeria which caused the outbreak.

    E-Coli 0157:H7 Outbreak
    On November 29, 1992 hamburger patties produced by Von Companies of Californina were sent to Jack in the Box restaruants. After the burgers were not cooked all the way in the restaruants and were then consumed an outbreak of E-Coli 0157:H7 washed acrros the United States. The meat was contaminated and caused 171 people to be hospitialized and resulted in 4 children dying.

    In March 1997, a total of 153 cases of hepatitis A from frozen strawberries were reported in Calhoun County, Michigan. The microorganism came from contaminated water. The strawberries infected with the illness were reportedly from Mexico.

The outbreak was linked to unpasteurized orange juice products produced my Sun Orchard (an Arizona based company). 207 people were reported with this illness. The Salmonella came from Sun Orchard’s decision to produce and sell a product that was instead blended from juice derived from a number of different sources which was produced in Mexico.

    Peter Pan peanut butter was recalled as the outbreak of Salmonella infected at least 700 people. The outbreak did not result in any deaths.The problem was traced to an old peanut roaster not uniformly heating. Due to a storm this caused entry
    of birds and insects, and a leaky roof, which may have allowed moisture into the production process. It was traced back to Sylvester, GA.

    Publix recalled spinach dip due to finding listeria in it. It sickened dozens and killed 14 due to listeria. It was found in the Publix's in Florida. The cause of the Listeria is unknown.

     Cyclospora Outbreak
    This Cylodpora outbreak (whcih is a parasite that causes watery diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea) started in May 2015 and finally ended in August 2015. 546 people became sick from this outbreak. The cyclospora was traced back to fresh cilantro from Puebla, Mexico.The foodborne outbreak was linked due to a Mexican Cilantro sickness.
