After the Civil War, the United States rapidly transformed into an industrial, urbanized nation. Technological innovation, economic growth, development of large-scale agriculture, and the expansion of the federal government characterized were at the forefront of the era. Especially the expanding field work in the US.

The Gilded Age was a time of rapid economic growth. American wages grew and the railroad industry was at the forefront with the factory system , mining, and finance also increasing in importance as well. Poverty and inequality were also a factor as many immigrants poured in from other countries.

The Reconstruction Era (1965-1877) was a time in US history following the American Civil War where former Confederate States in the South where integrated back into the US. Slavery was abolished, and I chose this topic because of it's historical relevance in regards to slavery.

Some of the keys to successful urbanization was electric lighting, communication improvements and the rise of skyscrapers. The growing pains of Industrialization were the African American Great Migration, the changing nature of European Immigration and Social Politics. There was the rise of the upper class in cities and a new middle class also.

Reformers worked to improve American society and counteract the effect of industrialization. Progressive Era reformers sought to harness the power of the federal government to eliminate unethical and unfair business practices, reduce corruption. During the Progressive Era, protections for workers and consumers were strengthened, and women finally achieved the right to vote. The Progressive movement arose as a response to these negative effects of industrialization.

World War 1 was the first World War that began on July 28th 1914. The Great War included Russia, Europe, the US, Turkey and the expanded into the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Asia. World War One ended at 11am on November 11, 1918. The day became known as Armistice Day. The Germans signed an agreement for peace.

The Great Depression was the result of the collapse of the Stock Market Crash of 1929 The day known as Black Tuesday and was the worse stock market crash in US history. This was the early days of the Hoover Presidency. The Great Depression was the longest, deepest, and most widespread depression of the 20th century and is regularly used as an example of an intense global economic depression.

The New Deal Era saw the rise of Franklin Roosevelt. When Roosevelt took office he inherited the Great Depression from Hoover. President Roosevelt moved fast to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to the American people. During his first inaugural address he said, “First of all,” he said, “let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”- Franklin Roosevelt.

World War 2 or the second world war was a global war. The exact cause of World War 2 has been debated by many historians but factors like the second Italo - Ethiopian War, the Spanish War, and when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. The US did not get involved until Southeast Asia and the Central Pacific attacked the US Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

The Challenges of Peace Time. The Working Class hoped for a better life after World War 2. They wanted a return to normalcy, however African Americans did not a return to normalcy. They wanted to the same rights and opportunities that other Americans had. Congress also passed a bill called the GI Bill that would ease veterans transition back into civilian life.

The 1960's in America was the dawn of new age for Americans. President John F. Kennedy represented a new day for America. Kennedy wanted to eliminate inequality and injustice for all. President Kennedy was assassinated 1964. The Cuban Missile Crisis, fight for Civil Rights, War in Vietnam and the Woodstock Festival.

Many political storms brewed between 1968 and 1980. Such as identity politics and the Fall of Richard Nixon because of the Watergate scandal. President Jimmy Carter had to pick up the fractured pieces of America.
