  • Batista's defeated in the mountains

    Batista began an offensive designed to finally destroy Castro's forces. The July 26 Guerrillas out strategised the Cuban army, as they used the terrain of the mountains to their advantage. July 26 captured 450 of Batista's army, which benefited CAstro's caused with supply of over 600 weapons
  • The battle of El Jigue

    The battle of El Jigue was the beginning of the counteroffensive on Batista. As the battle proved to be a decisive victory for the july 26 Movement.
  • Batista retreats

    Two seperate groups left the mountains. first group, led by Camilo Cienfeugos headed to the west coast of Cuba towards Pinar Del Rio. Che Guevara led the second group to Las Villas Province in central Cuba. Due to humiliating defeats Batista pulled back his forces.
  • Law Number Three

    July 26 Movement procliamed Law Number Three; which grants ownership to tenant farmers, squatters and sharecoppers working on areas of land less than 67 acres
  • Fidelistas Triumphs over Batista

    Two groups of fighters led by Cienfuegos and Guevara captured many towns. resulting in the rebels to control half of Cuba. Fidelistas pushed foward towards Havana, taking town by town, as Batista's military fell away. Janurary 1 Batista fled Cuba and Fidel and his followers triumphantly entered Havana.
