  • First Film- Roundhay Garden Scene

    Longest lasting film and also the first popular film that came out around that time. It was made by a French inventor names Louis Le Prince. It was a Silent film. There are still some surviving film clips from it to this day.
  • MPPC

    The Motion Picture Patents Company was founded by Thomas Edison. He created this company to have control over where people made the movies and earn money off of it.The MPPC was located in New York. It also annoyed many of the movie makers because of the freedom they didn't have to use what they want for the movie.
  • Hollywood

    Film makers move to holllywood to get away from the strict rules of Thomas Edison and wen they got there they started making movies. After a while more film makers started to move to Hollywood because of the setting and how sunny it was.
  • MPPC Disbands

    The MPPC due to following litigation for anti-trust activities they Disband
  • Warner Bros. release their first produced picture

    Warner Bros. release a motion pictured film called My Four Years In Germany
  • First Academy Awards

  • Fox Film and Twentieth Century

    Fox film and Twentieth Century join together to make 20th Century Fox
  • The Golden age

    Hollywood movies started to Grow more and more. The wizard of Oz was premiered at the Grauman's Chinese theather
  • Technicolor and World War 2

    Technicolor started to become more wide spread and used more often. After World war 2 there was a slow down of box offices and movies all in general.
  • Paramount Pictures

    Released a film called the Friendly Ghost, Introducing a Ghost named Casper
