Then he started to experiment with coca and coca wines. He was eventually able to make his own version of Vin Mariani. It contained kola nut and damiana. He called it Pemberton’s French Wine Coca.

    Pemberton was forced to make an alternative to his French Wine Cola. With the help of Willis Venable, Pemberton was able to mix a base syrup with carbonated water and then sold it as a fountain beverage rather than medicine. He called it Coca-Cola.
