    Part of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal the
    Farmers became Eligible to receive subsidy for reducing production of certain crops.
    Subsidies were paid to limit overproduction and increase crop price.

  • The Farm Credit Act of 1933

    The Farm Credit Act of 1933
    Help farmers refinance their mortgages over a longer time period of time below-market interest rates.
    Under this campaign 20% of farmer's mortgages were refinanced.
    The refinancing was backed by the Farm Credit Administration through the regional and national banks
  • Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC)

    Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC)
    Made 12-month loans fixed price loans against newly planted crops.
    If the market price was high then the farmer could sell their crop and pay of the loan. If the market price was low or dropped they would give the crop to the CCC and that would payoff the farmers debt.
    There was also a minimum price on crops like corn, cotton, and wheat.

    This was the firs farm legislation that covered multiple years. Created a class 1 based plan for the federal milk marketing orders, and long term diversion of cropland under the cropland adjustment program.

    Food and Agriculture Act of 1977
    This was considered an omnibus farm bill passed y the 95th U.S. congressional session.
    Price and income increased and established farmer-owned grain reserves.
    Created a two tiered price program under the peanut program.
    Title XIII under the Food and Agriculture Act Designated the Food Stamp Act of 1977 fully replaced the Food Stamp Act of 1964 and eliminating purchase requirement.
    Title XIV National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act and the USDA.
  • Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996

    Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996
    This bill revises and simplifies payment programs for crops and eliminates price support for milk.
    Removes the link between income support payments and farm prices.
    Created production flexibility contract payments giving participating producers fixed payments independent of current farm prices and production.
