    The red eared slider turtle is a semiaquatic turtle that is named that after the red stripe is where the ears should be located. It is the most common turtle to have as a pet and is also the most common in trade. They have an incredible ability to easily slide off water or rocks which is where the slider part of their name comes to play. They can grow to 20 centimeters long. They are usually found in the Mississippi river and is also in thew Gulf of Mexico.

    Proganochelys is one of the earliest discovery of the ancestors of turtles.It shows that it had a shell but it wasent smooth like the today turtle is. Instead it had indents in the shell which made it look like it has mountains and valleyes on it, very similar to the aliigator turtle.

    The Pappochelys rosinae is the earliest known ancestor of the turtle that is known today. Its name translated is Grandfather turtle and is said to have very large ribs and az broad rib like structure that created an armor for it.

    Unfortunatley, many other ancestors of turtles havent been discovered yet but it is believed that many pappochelys rosinae split off from each other during Pangea and is the reason for many other reptiles and the explaination for the turtle being related to many other reptiles. For an example, some pappochelys began to swim in the water evolving into sea turtles and some stayed on land evolving to land tutles and tortoises
