Just in time for Christmas, Marconi created the first satellite antennae and the first radion broadcast is played on Christmas Eve. -
Record Player
Through the mid 1890's to the early 1920's record players became insreasingly popular. These machines required large flat vinyl disks that would have music on them. -
Radio
Radios in the 20's became a common, affordable new household item and they were used to listen to shows or live music . Radio Stations started popping up everywhere and this was the best form of entertainment before TV. -
8 Track Players
They were invented William Powell Lear and they were magnetic tapes that could hold up to 40 minutes of music. -
Cassette Players
The new tape like device were a little more simpler compared to the 8 Track Player and had a way better sound quality. They were very cheap and realible. -
Walkman
Sony introduces this new brand of portable cassette players usually referred to a personal stereo that you can bring anywhere and were very convenient. -
CD's / Discman
The first CD ever was made in Germany by both Phillips and Sony. No more static or crackleing sound of cassettes. The sound was clear and it became a hit. Later, Sony released the portable disc player; the Discman. -
MP3 Players
Once the internet became popular and computers were starting to become a common household item, MP3 players came out. You could easily download music off the internet and sync them to a little device that would plug into the computer putting the music onto the player. It was super popular and a fun and easy way to listen on the go. -
Apple Ipod
A new sleek music player was introduced to the world by Apple, along with creatng the Itunes Store, getting music onto your ipod was super easy. As years go on they become smaller and smaller and even more advanced. -
Iphone
When the Iphone came out it was a huge success and now you could also play your music on your phone because it was connected to your itunes as well. Music just kept becoming more and more easy to listen to. -
Now
Now there are streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music that let you listen to any song in the world. Also, portable speakers and wireless speakers that you can hook up your phone and listen to music that way. The way music is listened to changes constantly.
