    Phonograph Invented
The phonograph was the first audio listening device invented on August 12, 1877, by Thomas Edison. The result was that instead of cutting a perfectly shaped spiral around and around the cylinder, the needle wavered back and forth, creating different patterns in the line it was gouging based on how the pressure from Edison's voice was affecting it. Once the cylinder was completely full of such lines, Edison placed the needle again at the starting position with slightly less pressure, and ran it.

How Will We Listen to Music in the Future?
It's hard to think of the future path for listening to music-we've already come SO far! It's very possible, though, to imagine a small chip you could carry everywhere in your ear. It would be wireless, and you can choose the songs you want in your head. No one around you can hear your music though, and your siblings will never ask you to turn your music down!
