    Ancient rome was between 509bc - 49bc and they were a republic. They believed that one man controling them would be better than a group of men controlling them.

    The Magna Carta was made to resolve conflicts between the king of Britain and his barons. The barons wanted to protect their rights and property. This influenced American Government because the colonists believed that they had the same rights as the english men.

    The Mayflower Compact was the first document to govern Plymouth County. It was made as way to make America have a government. Also, it focused on the authority of Britain.
  • Thomas Hobbes

    Leviathan is a book written by Thomas Hobbes. Thomas was an english philosopher. The book he wrote describes the structure of society and how it worked.
  • John Locke

    John Locke signed the Two Treatises on Government in 1689. The treatises showed what philsophes John followed. John was an English philosopher and physician. His writings influenced Voltaire and Rousseau.

    It was a bill that included rights and freedoms from Englands king.It was passed by parliament and we finally had a little bit of freedom from England.

    Treatise of Toleration is what Voltaire created. It says that we should all tolerate each other for who we are and how we act.Voltaire was a French Enlightenment writer. He did works in almost every literary form.

    The First Continental Congress was a group of people to govern America. The people were chosen by citizens. They were intended to form a resolution with England.

    The Second Continental Congress was a group of delegates that started meeting up with each other. They were a group of delegates that tried again to get freedom from the British control
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence declared freedom from British control. It was the first time that America was free from Britain. It described how Britain's tyranny was out of control. It said everything wrong Britain has done to colonists.

    Rousseau made the social contract. It argued against monarchs and their authority. Also, it argued that citizens would give up some rights to maintain the more important rights.

    The Philadelphia Convention had 55 delgates from 12 different states. All of the men were professionals. It focused on trade, soverignty, and a perfect union. It was the last event before the constitution that influenced the constitution.
