    A machine that separated seeds from cotton fibers benefitted the South. It led to the Civil War because it called for more slaves causing issues between the North and the South.

    Henry Clay created a compromise stating that Missouri would be a pro-slavery state and Maine a free state. It lead to the Civil War because it was only temporary. Also it wouldn't apply towards further Western areas causing debates to whether a state should be free or not.

    Nate Turner led a rebellion into southhampton a killing over 60 whites. It was one of the largest slave rebellions to take part in the South and caused stricter slave codes.

    Bestseller of the 19th century. It painted a picture of what slavery really was for people. It led to war because it opened the eyes of many ignorant people to what slaves faced on a daily basis.

    Kansas was debated on whether it should become a free state or a slave state. Pro-slavery settlers attacked anti- slavery head quarters. The violence in Kansas increased hatred between the North and the South.

    Dred following his master to Illinois where slavery is illegal and Scott tried to sue his master's widow when he died. The decision of the court declared that congress had no power to prohibit slavery in federal areas and, it worsened the issues between the North and the South.
