    Melbourne founded
    John Batman and John Pascoe Fawkner bought 2,000 k2 of land around the Yarra river from the Wurundjeri people. John Batman signed a contract indicating that Batman and Fawkner would receive the land and in return the Wurundjeri people would receive from thew men scissors, knifes, flour, hour-glasses and other substantial items.
