    Battle of the Atlantic
    Britian decalred war on Germany on September 3, 1939. Germany wanted control of the seas but the Americans used the Atlantic to transport goods and soldiers to Britian. Germany used "Wolf Packs" to attack Britain ships. The battle took place across the Atlantic Ocean. It was also the longest war of World War Two. With 800 German U-Boats sunk and 28,000 Germans killed , this was a victory for Britain. the battle ended May 7,1945.

    Battle of Britain
    Germany's Air Force attacked Britain on July 10,1940. Germany wanted air superiority over the Royal Air Force (RAF). Germany first started to attack coastal shipping convoys and shipping centers. They then switched their focus directly to the RAF. This battle was the first major campaign fought entirely by air force. Eventually the RAF prevemted Germany from invading the United Kingdom. The war took place about Southern Britain and the English Channel and ended October 31,1940.

    Batlle of Stalingrad
    Germany attacked and poured across the border of the Soviet Union on August 23, 1942. Hitler wanted to capture the city of Stalingrad. Three German army grouos invaded Russsia extending from the Baltic Coast to the Black Sea.Germany surrounded Stalingrad trapping the Russian soldiers inside the city. When the Russian army sent reinforcement, they surrounded the Germans until they surrendered. This was a tremendous vistory for Russia and ended on February 2, 1943.

    Battle of El Alamein, Egypt
    Germany and Italy and Britian fought this battle. In order to stop the advancement of German-Italy forces into Egypt, Britian attacked. If the Axis powers took over parts of Egypt it woulf affect Britain trade, This battle took place in El Alamein, Egypt and ended on November 5, 1942.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    This was the Brtish-American invasion of French North Africa. This attck would clear the Axis powers from North Africa. This would also improve naval control of the Mediterranean Sea. The Allies organized three task forces to capture the key ports and airports of Morocco and Algeria. They woudl then going to advance into Tunisia. This was to be considered an Allied Victory.

    Invasion of Sicily/France
    In this battle the Allies captured Sicily from the Axis Powers on July 9, 1943. Two army groups would land, one landing on the South Eastern and one on the central Southern Coast. General Dwight Eisenhouer was on charge of the Invasion. The invasion happned in the air, waters and land. The invasion ended on August 17, 1943.

    The Allies would successfully invade the German-occupied western Europe. Nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on 6 June, and more than three million allied troops were in France by the end of August.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    Germany invaded Belgium through the Ardennes. Hitler intended on spliting the Allied forces with a surprise blitzkreig. Germany began to dive deeper into the Ardennes, causing a bulge in the Allies line. Germans suffered more than 100,000 casualties. The battle ended on January 25, 1945.

    Adolf Hitler shot himself in the head on April 30, 1945 and died.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    This is known as Victory in Europe Day. This day marks the formal surrender of Germany.
