    The Battle of Britain was an air campaign that would determine who had air superiority in WW2. During this time, America gave aid to Britain by transferring 50 destroyers in return for naval bases. Hitlers main goal was to invade and take control over the British isles which would give them increased air superiority (Operation Sea Lion). Although the British were outnumbered, they still got the victory.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the name of the German invasion over the Soviet Union. This invasion would ultimately break the German-Soviet pact. One of the goals of this invasion was to destroy/weaken the Soviet Unions military. This invasion would result in the invasion of Poland and France. While Germany attempted to overtake Russia, the winter climate would exhaust the German troops who would eventually fall back and retreat.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch

    Operation torch was the invasion of North Africa. This invasion would also mark the first involvement of American troops in the European War. The end result of this invasion would be that the Allies pushed out the Axis forces out of Africa. While this was occurring, the Allies would attempt to bomb Germany throughout the day. However, this raid would lead to many of the bombers being shot down due to Germany’s advanced technology.

    Operation Overlord was the name for the the battle in Normandy. The Allies would begin with multiple air and naval attacks. The Allied forces would later take to the ground and attempt to invade southern England as well as Portsmouth. Germany would attempt to counter the Allied attacks, but ultimately failed. The end result of this battle would result in the Liberation of Paris as well as Germany’s retreat.

    The Yalta Conference was the name given to the discussion between the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union after the war. The goal of the conference was to re-organize Europe from the division of war. The Yalta Conference was a major event for the Cold War.
