Allen joins the Litchfield county militia to fight with America and Britian in the French and Indian War.

The King of England passed a patent that said the Connecticut River was the border between New Hampshire and New York, making Vermont once again part of New York. This most directly caused the forming of the Green Mountain Boys.

Connecticut, being a very strict religious place, banished Allen from the state for the practice of deism. He moved to Vermont.

After being banished from Connecticut, Allen purchases his first two plots of land in the New Hampshire grants.

Allen, along with Seth Warner, organize an unchartered militia group called the Green Mountain Boys. Their purpose was to terrorize the settlers that came into the Vermont area of New York, as well as enforcers of act that made Vermont part of New York.

The New York goverment issues an arrest warrant for Allen, with a substantial award of 100 pounds for hs capture.

The American Revolution begins and New York and Britians efforts to stop Allen sece. Allen and the Green Mountain Boys request to fight in the war, and they do.

220 men fight with the two commanders as they catch the sleeping British by surprise. This was one of the first successful American campaigns of the war, and they captured the cannon used to drive the British out of Boston.

While trying to capture Montreal, Allen is captured by British forces.

Allen is released from British captivity after three harsh years when America trades a different colonel to be held instead.

Allen publishees the book "A Narrative of Colonel Ethan Allen's captivity."

Ethan Allen dies.

Two years after Allen's death, Vermont becomes an official state.
