  • Minimata Disease , Japan.

    Minamata disease was first discovered in Minamata city in Kumamoto prefecture, Japan, in 1956. It was caused by the release of methylmercury in the industrial wastewater from the Chisso Corporation's chemical factory
  • Malaria and ''Silent Spring"

    Burkina faso was the center of the malaria epidemic.
    Certain mosquitos were immune to DDT. DDT didnt work in africa and had nothing to do with silent spring.
  • Stockholm convention

    Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants is an international environmental treaty, signed in 2001 and effective from May 2004, that aims to eliminate or restrict the production and use of persistent organic pollutants ( POPs)
  • MDGs established

    In 2005 at the UN Summit in New York, the MDG were initially established.
    A document with three chapters was published: Freedom from Want (this was the chapter that had the 8 MDGs), Freedom from Fear, Freedom to Live in Dignity (based on the four freedom’s identified by former US President Franklin Roosevelt)

  • UN Summit, redesigned the MDGs

    In 2015 during the UN summit the MDG's were redesigned and adapted into the 17 SDGs, document published is called Agenda for Sustainable Development, target 2030 (document is sometimes referred to Agenda 2030)
