Gertrude Stein was a fellow writer and artist. He was influenced by her style and ideas but eventually the realtionship fell out and they began firing at eachother through their writing. -

Pauline was a friend of Hadley's. Ernest and Pauline had an affair but when Hadley found out, she had filed for divorce to let the two be together. She was finished with the relationship also. During their marriage he became very passionate about fishing and also interested in boxing and bull fighting, -

After divorcing Pauline, Ernest married Martha. It didn't last lomng because he wasn't used to someone not catering and supporting him in everything. She was a writer also and didn't feel the need to while doing her own work. -

Ernest married Mary. She was willing and wanting to cater to Hemingway's every need. He was flattered and very attracted to this aspect. -

The relationship with the young girl helped improve his writing. His affair with the girl gave him the inspiration he needed to make one of his best pieces of work. -
