    8th grade middle school

Roy is graduating from middle school and will be going to high school next school year. He is worried about this transition due to his insecurities. His older sister and brother has been telling him stories about how the kids going to be a lot taller and bigger than Roy, which worries him. He told himself that he will work out and prepare himself through the summer vacation.

    Roy`s Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt

The whole summer, Roy ate healthy, worked out and slept early. It became a routine throughout his summer vacation. It is time for Roy`s first day of his freshmen year, he was super nervous that he could not get out of the car. He walked into the halls of the school with just one thought "everything is okay, I can conquer my fears". This crisis falls on to Eriksons psychosocial stages which are autonomy vs shame/doubt because Roy`s whole life he had never felt insecure until going to high school.
  • Freshmen year

From the first day of Roy`s freshmen year, he made lots of friends and some of his friends from middle school went to the same school as him. Roy made friends from his classes and sports, because he is a person with such great attitude and motivated personality. Not because he was "fit", it just came in handy because it helped him get accepted on to the sport teams that he wanted to join.

    What is happening?

What is really happening with Roy? I believe his had just taken a huge step, meaning he just started a new routine by eating healthy, working out and sleeping early. He had become more independent and he learned self discipline. At first, he was doubtful and ashamed of himself but then, he trusted himself that he will succeed and get through his freshmen year.
