  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act made colonists pay taxes on sugar and molasses. The reason for this act was that the colonists were buying from places other than England so they were losing a lot of money from not benefiting from the sales. The colonists wanted this act removed but, the King said no. This changed the way that the colonists saw the King and Parliament forever.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    All because of the war the King was in debt he made a bunch of acts. This act was called the Stamp Act. They also wanted to show the colonies that they were in power and wouldn't nuckle under. This act said that there would be a tax on ship papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards! This act cause the Sons of Liberty to form. The Sons of Liberty tryed to get rid of this act by burning the stamps.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act placed taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. King George wanted to control the colonies and have lots of money. The colonies boycotted these goods. The king was losing his money so he took away the taxes exept the tax on tea because he still wanted more money. The colonists were tired of letting the King push them around they started tarring and feathering of soldiers.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre or the Bloody Massacre started as a street fight when colonists were taunting the redcoats by throughing snowballs, stones, and sticks at them. Soon a mob grew and one of the redcoats fired into the helpless crowd. Five colonists were killed. Paul Revere drew a picture of the scene and the word spread throgh the clolonies.

    This was one of the biggest problems for the colonists. This ment that colonists couldn't buy tea from any other company but the East India Company. The King thought this was a great law because he earned money because the colonists loved tea. If you didn't drink tea you weren't a very good Englishman. This act started the Boston Tea Party.

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was all caused becasuse The Sons of Liberty were angry about the tax on tea. They had decided to dress as Mohawk Indians and dump about 45 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor! The King was very mad at them. After this famous tea party the King made the Intolerable Acts.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Parliment and King George made a set of laws like the quartering Act and the Boston Port Act because they were mad at the colonies for dumping tea into the Boston Harbor otherwise known as the Boston Tea Party. These acts made the colonists even more angry and join together to make the Committees of Correspondence.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Paul Revere's Ride
    Paul Revere's RIde is known all around the world. He went to warn the colonies that the British were coming. He went to Boston, Charelstown, Medford, and Lexington. It let the colonists be armed when the British were coming. Paul got stopped but someone else carried it on to the next towns. This helped the colonies protect themselves.

    Common Sense By Thomas Pain
    Thomas Pain's Common Sense had sold hundreds of copies all over. This book stated that the King was wrong on so many levels. It talked about how they have began to separate from the King. The colonists began to relize that Thomas Pain was right they started to live by this rule. Common Sense was about what needed to be done to separate from King George.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was really a letter sent to King George the 3rd for all the bad things about him, individual rights, and how we are done with the King. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration and put what he thought all the colonists had in common in complaints towards the King. This "letter" was the first official step to independence. They were so happy that they tore down a statue of King George and melted it into bullets for war.
