Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill met at Yalta to see what would happen with Germany and Poland. They decided to split Germany into American, British, French, and Soviet occupied zones. Eventually, the American, British, and French zones turned into West Germany. The Soviet zone turned into East Germany.

The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations. It was also made to stop wars between countries and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions.

Trumans first meeting with Stalin. This occured in the Berlin suburb of Potsdam. The new representatives from Britain and the United states faced off againts Stalin. The representatives were Truman and Attlee.

This happened because McCarthy accused the army of having Communists in it. He only did this because his assistants was drafted. This was on T.V. After everyone saw who McCarthy really was, he had no power.

The Soviets used one of their rockets to launch this. It was the first artificial satellite to orbit the earth. It frightened the Americans because the rocket could launch a hydrogen bomb over to the United States.

This was when the Soviet military shot down an American plane. They used a missile to shoot it down. Americans thought the Soviets wouldn't be able to hit it because it was so far up in the sky. This raised fear for Americans.
