During a taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen talks with Sherri Gahn, the principal of Whitney Elementary School in a poor neighborhood of east Las Vegas. At the end of their interview, Ellen announces to Sherri that she is giving her a whopping one hundred thousand dollar donation to help her with her efforts to educate and improve the lives of the many poor children at Whitney (Takahashi).
