    Plessy v Ferguson
    This was a landmark constitutional law case of the US Supreme Court. It upheld state racial segregation laws for public facilities under the doctrine of "separate but equal".
  • Brown v Board of Education

    Brown v Board of Education
    This case discusses how separate is not equal. The court ruled that different schools for white and black students were unconstitutional. Brown v Board of Education helped the civil rights movement by express the eniquality in the education styles for students of different races.
  • Title IX

    Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in classrooms receiving federal funding, which is a vast majority of schools. This law applies to all students regardless of gender idenity.
  • Education of All Handicapped Children Act

    Education of All Handicapped Children Act
    This act required all public schools accepting federal funds to provide equal access to education and one free meal a day for children with physical and mental disabilities. Public schools were required to evaluate handicapped children and create an educational plan with parent input that would emulate as closely as possible the educational experience of non-disabled students.

    Plyer v Doe
    This case helped undocumented students obtain the ability to attend school. The court ruled that schools were not allowed to deny a student based on immigrational status.
