I completed preschool in California. I was read to everyday in school.
-
I started Kindergarten in California, but I then moved to Nevada and finished it here. I was still read to everyday and began learning letter sounds and sight words.
-
I struggled with reading. My first grade teacher tried her best, but I still did not do well and was almost held back. I was read to in class, and my parents began reading to and with me more.
-
The No Child Left Behind policy allowed me to move on to second grade and be placed in a class with struggling readers. We read very often in school and at home, and I was reading at grade level by the end of the school year.
-
Our teacher read longer books, like The Tale of Despereaux, and I finally enjoyed reading.
-
This was the first grade I remember actually bring home novels to read independently. I remember reading Old Yeller and The Midnight Fox.
-
I read my first book I considered to be my favorite, The Five People You Meet in Heaven.
-
I read my first series that I enjoyed, The Hunger Games series. We had a program called "Reading Counts" and we read multiple books throughout the year to get credit for the program.
-
I finally began reading for fun. I enjoyed listening to audio books or reading electronically. I read many books after I graduated high school and community college.
-
I have read more books this year than any previous year. I have read three novels for just one class, as well as multiple children's books to my students and for read-alouds.
