    This language was created by John Backus, and it was created to do numeric computations and scientific computing.

  • Math-Matic

    Created by Remington Rand, and was created to be an Algebraic Translator 3 compiler for the UNIVAC 1 and 2.

  • Lisp

    Created by John McCarthy, its main purpose was to be a mathematical notation for computer programs. It stands for Locator/Identifier Separation Protocol.

  • COBOL

    This language was created by CODASYL. CODOL stands for Common Business-Oriented Language. Its purpose is to help in business, finance, and administrative systems for companies and government.

  • RPG

    This language was created by the company named IBM. its purpose early on was to replicate punched card processing on the IBM 1401, but now its a high-level programming language for business applications.

  • BASIC

    This language was created by John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz. BASIC stands for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code. Its purpose was to be a easy language which everyone can use and not just scientist and mathematicians.

  • LOGO

    Created by Wally Feurzeig, Seymoun Papert, and Cynthia Solomon. Its name means word in Greek. It was created to be an educational programming language, which would teach the concepts of programming related to Lisp.

  • B

    It was developed by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie, who worked at Bell labs. It was created in 1969, its purpose was for non-numeric applications.

  • Pascal

    Created by Niklaus Wirth, and was created to encourage good programming practice by using structured programming and data structuring.

  • C

    This language was created by Dennis Ritchie, who works at Bell Labs. Its purpose was to work like the B language, but to have some differences that would make it easier to be tied to the development of Unix.

  • ML

    Ml stands for Meta Languages, and was created by Robin Milner. Its purpose is to be a general purpose programming language, it was made to make tactics in the LCF theorem prover

  • SQL

    This language was created by Donald D. Chemberlin, Raymond F. Boyce. SQL stands for Structured Query Language. Its purpose is that its used in programming for managing data held in a relational database management system.

  • ADA

    This language is used to improve code safety and maintainability. It finds errors in the code. It was created by Jean Ichbiah, and was created to be used by the department of defense. It was named after Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer.

  • C++

    This language was created by Bjarne Stroustrup. Its purpose was to enhance the language of programming C.

  • Python

    This language was created by Guldo Van Rossum. It was created to be the successor of ABC language, but also be capable of exception handling and interfacing with the operating system Amoeba.

  • Visual Basic

    This was created by Microsoft, and its purpose is to be a language which is easy to use and is designed to be used by beginners.

  • Delphi

    This language was created by Dann Thorpe, who worked for Borland. Its purpose was to provide database connectivity to programmers as a key feature. Also as a popular database package that is used.

  • Java

    This language was created by James Gosling, and was created to be a programming language which can be used on any platforms

  • Java Script

    Created by Brendan Eich, and its purpose is to be used alongside websites, and web browsers.

  • PHD

    It was created by Rasmus Lerdof, and was created for web development but also as a general purpose programming language.
