The Transcontinental Railroad was a railroad that connected the country from east to west. This took about seven years with two different railroad companies building from the ends, connecting them up in the middle. -
Reconstruction Ends
The Compromise of 1877 was used to settle the dispute against the presidential election, take troops out of the south, and most importatntly, it ended the Reconstruction era.
