  • Dwight D. Eisenhower's birth

    Born in Denison, Texas. His nickname was Ike. An abbreviation of his last name. He was the third of seven boys. As a teenager he was responsible for an accident in which his younger brother lost an eye. This caused Dwight to develope a protective nature and always be safe around people.
  • Enrolled at United States Military Academy at Westpoint.

    He played football at Westpoint and Scored a touchdown in 1912. However he suffered a very serious knee injury that ended his entire sports carreer. He wasn't the greatest student and didn't get great grades.

    Dwight enlisted but was denied. However in 1918 he was sent to France to command and train a unit of soldiers with tanks. Although they never saw battle, he displayed excellent leadership.

    Dwight started as the lowest ranking: a private and ended his Military carreer as a Five Star General. The highest ranking you can get.

    Eisenhower was assigned to the General Staff in Washington. He designed military plans and tactics to defeat Germany and Japan. He was also in charge of Operation Torch and Avalanche. He became Supreme Allied Commander in Europe.

    His heart fails him. He dies in Washington, D.C. and boards a train to Kansas and is buried in Abilene, Kansas
