    In World War I there were UAVs in existence, however, they were in the testing phases during the war and therefore did not end up taking flight in WWI due to the signing of the armistice. People recognized their potential in combat.

    UAVs in testing and production in and outside of the US declined sharply. However, by mid to late 1930s UAVs re-emerged as an important training tool.
  • WWII

    Nazi Germany's V-1 drone demonstrated the destructive power of drones and their threat in combat. This lead to US post-war UAV programs getting up and running again.

    From early use as target drones for training, drones purposes soon changed in the Vietnam war to be used for surveillance
  • success of the Firebee

    The Firebee continued to be successful throughout the Vietnam war. In the 1970s other countries began to develop their own drone technology and the US began to pursue other types of drones.
  • Israeli airforce joins in

    The Israeli airforce an aggressive UAV developer developed and pioneered many important UAVs which features of which were integrated into other countries' systems such as the US.
  • They're everywhere

    UAVs have become a very important part of our society today and can be seen everywhere you look each playing a different role in our society.
