The Ozone collects radiations and sparate to reform oxygen gas. The Ozone and the stratoshere balance within oxygen gas and ozone levels. The Ozone forms over the equator, this make a good marker to follow the way air flows in the Stratosphere. -

Chlorofluorocarbons
Also known as CFC, Chlorofluorocarbons moved into the Stratosphere made chlorine, the chlorine workes with ice particles and sunlight to destroy the ozone particles that prevents harm to the surface by ultraviolet light coming from the sun efficiently. -
Montreal Protocol
This came about in the act to eventually eliminate CFC.
